Most alert problems come from the browser source in your streaming software, not from Streamloots. Find your symptom below and follow the steps in order.
Alerts Don't Show Up on Stream
- Go to Alerts & Widgets and copy your alerts URL.
- In your streaming software (OBS, XSplit, Streamlabs…), check that the current scene has a browser source with that exact URL.
- Back in Alerts & Widgets, click Test Cards or Test Purchases to send a test alert. A new browser window opens with the alert.
If the alert appears in that window but not on stream, Streamloots is sending it correctly and the problem is in your streaming software's settings. Try the next section.
Alerts Stopped Working
Updates to OBS, XSplit or Streamloots sometimes leave the browser source stuck. These steps go from quickest to slowest:
- Open the browser source's Properties (double-click the source) and click Refresh cache of current page.
- Hide the source for 5 to 10 seconds and show it again. For this to reset the alerts, Shutdown source when not visible must be enabled in the source properties. We recommend leaving it on.
- Enable Refresh browser when scene becomes active if you want the alerts to reload every time you switch scenes.
- Delete the browser source and add it again with the URL from Alerts & Widgets.
- If nothing else works, reinstall your streaming software. Some streamers have fixed it this way after a faulty update.
The Alert Shows Up Without Image or Sound
First check the alert settings in Streamloots:
- The card or pack alert has an image.
- The card or pack alert has a sound, or TTS enabled if you want the message read out loud.
If everything is set up, the cause is usually hardware acceleration for browser sources:
- Find the hardware acceleration option in your streaming software. Where it is depends on the program and its version, so search for “hardware acceleration browser source” plus the name of your software.
- Turn it on if it was off, or off if it was on.
- Close the software completely, including from the system tray, and open it again.
- Send a test alert from Alerts & Widgets.
Alerts Play Twice or With an Echo
The alert is loading in two places at once. Close any browser tab (Chrome, Firefox, Edge…) that has your alerts URL or the tester open, and check that the current scene doesn't have the same browser source twice.
Still Not Working?
Open a support ticket and tell us which streaming software and version you use, which of these steps you tried, and a screenshot of the browser source properties.
